Understanding Pending Payments
Sometimes, when a payment doesn't fully complete (often due to connectivity issues at markets or events), the transaction may appear as "Pending" in your bank account. This is a temporary authorisation hold, not an actual charge.
What you need to know:
- I don't have access to these pending transactions or any authorisation codes
- I cannot cancel these pending transactions from my end
- Your bank will automatically release these funds back to your account
- Release timeframes vary by bank, typically between 2 and 28 days
- You don't need to do anything - the pending amount will disappear automatically
If you've already paid for your product but have another pending payment showing
If you've completed a payment (received a confirmation) but still see an additional pending charge:
- Don't worry - You won't be charged twice for the same purchase
- Check your confirmation - If you received an order confirmation email or receipt, this confirms your actual payment
- Wait for the pending charge to clear - The duplicate pending amount will be released by your bank automatically within 2-28 days
- No action needed from you - These pending authorisations occur when a transaction is initiated but not completed
This situation commonly happens at markets or events where internet connectivity might be intermittent.
If you're concerned:
- You can contact your bank's customer service for their specific release timeframe
- Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if the pending charge remains for longer than 7 days
Rest assured that your payment is securely processed through Shopify and their payment gateway Stripe, using SSL encryption, and I only receive payment once for each purchase.
